Kimberly Goldie Staines, OTR, CHT
Upon completing the first North American fellowship specializing in hand and upper extremity rehabilitation, Kimberly Goldie Staines established herself in the Houston Hand community. Staines has been an invited presenter at the national and international level. Her accomplishments and scientific contributions to hand therapy are known through her many scientific papers, publications, and book chapters. She has been recognized by the American Society of Hand Therapists, American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons for her contributions to the field. She has been active in the Texas Society for Hand Therapists, multiple therapy and surgery meeting nationally and internationally, a member of the ASHT Practice Committee as well as a member of ASHT and ASSH. As a Certified Hand Therapist at the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Houston, Texas, she is proud to give back to our nations wounded warriors. She has completed a research fellowship at the Center for Performing Arts Medicine at Houston Methodist Hospital which is focused on the management of overuse injuries in musicians. In recognition for her musician research, she was invited to present at the Menuhin International Violin Competition. In addition, she was recently awarded a NIH through NIAMS grant to investigate the efficacy of a orthotic design for small joint osteoarthritis.
